"When Schantz was granted the privilege of building a replica 1914 Estey console for the Henry Ford State, I knew the biggest challenge would be finding a woodcarver with the skills to replicate the exceptional craftsmanship that Estey achieved in 1914. Not only would we need someone with the ability to duplicate the details visible in the historical photographs, we would also need a creative artist with historical knowledge of American craft traditions to design and execute those portions of the carvings not visible in the few remaining photos of the old console.
We were so fortunate to found about you. Your work exceeded any idea I had of what would be possible. While your carvings were here in the shop, we showed them off to everyone who passed through our doors. Now that the console has been installed at Fair Lane in Dearborn, the client is as thrilled as we are with the final product. It will be a wonderful part of the touring public’s experience there for years to come.
I can’t thank you enough for your work, and for your deep interest in the project. I will be eagerly looking for the next project that we can work on together."
